Finding Direction:  The Model of Moral Growth and Moral Decay 2.0.0

In an interconnected world of diversity and complexity, we humans need some public language, some public vocabulary in order to discuss our mutual needs and concerns.  Living As Though There Is a Tomorrow, Creating the Future by Choice Using Reason, Duty, Love, and Belief provides a suggestion for that public language.  If our language about ethics is only understood in our individual private worlds, our private religions, or our private political circles, then we cannot discuss deep issues together.

In addition, the model of moral Growth and moral Decay is an outgrowth of thousands of years of human thought and philosophy.  This is not a new or unique vocabulary.  The difference is that now humans are so many and so powerful that whatever we choose to do about moral Growth and moral Decay affects every life on earth and the very earth itself.

Without Words We Cannot Think

“A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’, a part limited in time and space.  He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.  This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.  Our task is to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”  Albert Einstein (1879-1955), personal letter 1950
