Finding Direction: Prologue 1.0.6
We all make ethical choices based on our conscious or unconscious goals, so Living As Though There Is a Tomorrow is designed to help us sort out the long-term consequences. I hope we do choose to live our lives as though there is a tomorrow. I hope we do learn how to combine our reason, our sense of duty, our love, and our beliefs to make ethical choices.
If we want to grow personally or in our families, communities, or political systems, we have a chance of getting there, step by step. It is easy to see this process as a waste of time, a “serious” exercise that is no fun. Some might argue that we should live our lives by instinct, governed by “whatever” because it is just too much bother to see, think, analyze, and choose. We are too busy running to and fro, gathering in and piling up our possessions, and entertaining ourselves to be bothered with long-term thinking. What have we got to lose but our souls and our future? But, awareness of the choices we make and the actions we take can be the first step into a future that we are consciously creating everyday – for good, rather than for ill.
